【Important】Prohibition of the Use of Mobile Phones and Other Electric Devices During the JLPT
Thank you for your interest in taking the December 2025 Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
Please be reminded that a new rule prohibiting the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices during the test and breaks was implemented starting with the July 2025 JLPT. Kindly review the following details once again.
- Starting July 2025, test-takers are not allowed to bring mobile phones or other electronic devices (including smartwatches, cameras, and communication devices) into the test venue.
- If a test-taker brings a mobile phone or other electronic devices for any reason, proctors will collect and store them in a designated area in the test rooms.
- Use of a mobile phone or any other electronic device during the test or break time will be automatically considered “misconduct”.
- In case of an emergency, if a test-taker needs to use their mobile phone, they may do so only under the following conditions: they must be accompanied by a proctor (or sub-proctor) to a designated area and may use the device in the presence of the secretariat or another authorized staff member.
